Women's Hormone Therapy

Bridget T. Maldonado

At MidLife Revive, we understand that the hormonal changes associated with perimenopause and menopause can bring a range of challenges. From hot flashes and vaginal dryness to sleep disturbances and mood swings, these symptoms can significantly impact your quality of life.

Many of you may be confused about what exactly menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) is and why we are talking about it.

Is it safe? Does it cause breast cancer? Do I need it? Does it cause weight gain?

How do I know when I am in menopause? Perimenopause? And on and on…

The conflicting information about menopause and hormone therapy is rampant. This results in misconceptions. What have YOU heard from social media, from your health care providers, from family members and friends about estrogen replacement or hormones?

Maybe you’ve asked your primary care provider or OB/GYN about perimenopause or menopause and the symptoms, only to be dismissed leaving you frustrated and confused.

Have you EVEN been given the opportunity to have a conversation about it? Better yet, have you been PREPARED for this transition that is MENOPAUSE that will happen to EVERY woman born with ovaries?

A whole generation of women (Boomers and some Gen X) have suffered in silence due to the misconceptions of MHT due to the lack of knowledge by our medical professionals about (peri) menopause. Please know, I am not bashing my colleagues. In all honesty, our current health care system does not allow for a proper discussion about most concerns much less something like risks and benefits of menopausal hormone therapy. Most providers got none to very little training on menopause, frankly they are not well informed nor do they have the time to train and learn this. Any expertise on MHT comes from providers who take the time to learn this information on their own.

Every woman deserves to have a conversation with a provider who has been trained in menopause. I have proudly trained to become a menopause specialist so that I can prescribe and manage your hormone therapy.

I look forward to having an in-depth, proper conversation with you about your risk and benefits of MHT.
